When first recognised in 1956 it was called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, but this name is widely considered to be scientifically incorrect. Since then, the illness has been known by various names and descriptions, but the one most widely used is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – CFS. Others you will see are Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome (PVFS) and Post-Covid Syndrome (PCS).
The Dorset ME Group is a registered charity with over 25 years experience in helping local people cope with CFS/ME. They work in partnership with Dorset NHS Clinic for CFS/ME at Wareham Hospital, and can provide a Self-Care Co-ordinator to provide practical guidance and support to members who face the challenge of managing or recovering from CFS/ME.
